Limits

In general, the app works largely without restrictions for installation as a client or server. However, the selection of components such as RAM, disc/ SSD storage, processor, the hardware and software components involved play an important role.

For example, the app should be able to recognize changes to a file and must therefore examine the contents of a folder. For this purpose, parts of the content are loaded into the RAM in order to be able to work with it more quickly.

The measured size of the main memory (RAM) and the processor speed are therefore relevant. An exact formula for sizing cannot be created due to the large number of available RAM, SSD / discs, processors and components involved, but the following recommendations can be made:

Client

Up to 500,000 files and folders in total is recommended:

RAM: Minimum 4 GB, better 8GB

Up to 1,000,000 files and folders in total is recommended:

RAM: Minimum 16 GB
SSD storage

The recommended OS is WIN 10 (supported from WIN 7), since Windows supports technologies such as “placeholders” for “on-demand” files or Mac OS from Big Sur.

Server

Up to 1 million files and folders in total and up to 100 clients is recommended:

RAM: Minimum 16 GB
A fast disc or SSD is recommended
Processor: e.g. Intel i5 or comparable components

Up to 3 million files and folders in total and up to 500 clients is recommended:

RAM: Minimum 32 GB
Fast SSD
Processor: e.g. Intel i7 or comparable components

OS is recommended for WIN Server from 2016 (supported is from WIN Server 2012) or Linux Ubuntu, Cent OS or Debian.
